“A TALE WITHOUT A NAME” by the Karmen Rouggeri Children’s Stage

Ancient Theatre of Philippi
Sunday 20th August, 21.00

The performance “A TALE WITHOUT A NAME”, based on the novel of the same name by Penelope Delta, which was presented by the Karmen Rouggeri Children’s Stage at the KIVOTOS Theatre during the winter season, is setting sail and coming to the Ancient Theatre of Philippi on Sunday 20th August at 9 p.m. as part of the 66th Philippi Festival.

Children and adults alike will have the opportunity to see the most talked about show of the year, which enchanted audiences from its first day at the KIVOTOS Theatre, filling the theatre to capacity and giving the cast a standing ovation.

The text is signed by Karmen Rouggeri, who directs the show together with Christina Kouloubi. The playful set and fairytale costumes are designed and curated by Christina Kouloubi. The movement, choreography and magical lighting all bear the stamp of Petros Gallias.

“A Tale Without a Name” is a wonderful story by Penelope Delta that, although written 100 years ago, remains timeless and relevant, captivating the young and old alike.

The play, with its values and moral rules, is full of “treasures” that the child is invited to discover.

It all takes place in a fictional land, the land of the Fatalists, a rich land ruled by King Prudentius.

The names that this master of prose gives to her heroes allow each character in the play to unfold.

King Prudentius is succeeded on the throne by his son Witless (Avgoustinos Remoundos). This new king will rule ruthlessly.

Together with his wife Barmy (Christina Kouloubi or Eleni Zioga), a frivolous royal daughter of the king (Giannis Nikolaou) from the neighbouring kingdom, they will manage to lead their country to total collapse and bankruptcy within a short time.

The couple will have 4 children, 3 daughters, Jealousia (Georgaki Katerina), Spitefulnia (Xenia Pavlopoulou), Little Irene (Melina Spetsieri) and Prudentius II (Nektarios Farmakis).

Once again, the names of all the heroes cleverly convey their character.

Prudentius II, the good king’s grandson, will leave the palace with his sister Little Irene, unable to bear the frivolity of their parents.

Luckily, on their way, they meet Mistress Wisdom and Knowledge, follow their advice and stay in their home to put it in order with the help of their people.

A play that will delight young and old alike. A show with attention to detail, signed by Karmen Rouggeri, Christina Kouloubi and their collaborators.
