DISCUSSING WOUNDS by Konstantinos Papacharalambos

Underground car park of the Municipal Market of Kavala
Sunday 6th August, 21.00

As part of the 66th Philippi Festival, Kavala Municipal Theatre presents Konstantinos Papacharalambos’ performance “Discussing Wounds” on Sunday 6th August at 9pm in the underground car park of Kavala Municipal Market.

“I have heard so much cursing in the hospital that no matter what they say to me now, it doesn’t affect me at all. You feel alone, that no one understands you or appreciates what you do. Colleagues leave for their own reasons and are not replaced. The nursing profession is dead…”

How well do we understand the work of nurses?
Is recognition of their role fleeting?
Do we often forget their sacrifices?

A performance dedicated to public health professionals. Konstantinos Papacharalambos, in the context of a dedicated residency in the Kavala region, seeks out the unsung heroes of health and welfare, records their working conditions, inquires about risks, problems, fears and dreams, and brings their stories to the stage. In a unique performance, he somatises their experiences and makes them interplay with his other texts. And so, in an underground car park in the heart of the city, he creates a unique approach to the daily struggle against attrition, a performance about what self-denial teaches us.
