“Why don’t we all sleep over tonight?”
The feminist comedy by the b.p.m. group (beats per minute), which won over audiences in its debut with continuous sold-out shows in the spring of 2023 and moved to the Chora Theatre this season, is coming to Kavala at the Antigone Valakou Theatre for just 3 performances on Thursday, February 22, Friday, February 23, and Saturday, February 24 at 9 PM.
Written and directed by Danai Liodaki, with original music by Foivos Delivorias, The Ones You Missed explores the challenges faced by modern women: gender violence, female oppression, sexual harassment, all through the lens of female friendship.
Combining realism and fantasy, humor and sensitivity, action and storytelling, this unique performance takes the audience on a compelling journey. Four childhood friends reunite unexpectedly and take a stand against patriarchy by forming a secret feminist group. When the health minister announces a ban on abortions, the four women decide to step up their efforts with a major operation. What follows will unite the friends forever.
Danai Liodaki describes “The Ones You Missed” as a contemporary ode to female friendship and a rebuttal to those who deny its existence. Through a fictional story enriched with real events from recent political history, the play highlights the power of collective action and female bonds. In an era of social fragmentation, “The Ones You Missed” reminds us of the beauty of connection and resistance against oppression, without losing our sensitivity and humor. The performance itself was created by friends, carrying the magic of sisterhood that we hope to share with the audience.
