DESCRIPTION

Production: Municipal and Regional Theatre of Kavala

Inspired by the novel of the same name by Vassilis Vassilikos

Palia Mousiki
Monday, July 8 & Tuesday, July 9, at 21:30

As part of the 67th Philippi Festival, the Municipal and Regional Theater of Kavala presents its first production, the play “Photographs” by Lyto Triantafyllidou, on Monday, July 8, and Tuesday, July 9, at 21:30 at Palia Mousiki.

A live auction-performance where the audience is invited to appraise and purchase all the belongings of a young writer named Lazaros. Each item for sale represents a souvenir from his first love and carries a unique story. As the auction progresses, a love story between Lazaros and the woman who inspires him gradually unfolds.

But can love be interpreted, captured, or preserved with words? In a dramatic twist of fate, the writer finds himself trying to convince his muse of the authenticity and value of his feelings. Each memento from their relationship becomes evidence of his love, an attempt to keep the memory of their shared past alive. What is the value of a past love? How long does love last? Is it a fleeting moment that lasts as long as a camera click, or can it endure a lifetime? In a whirlwind of self-referentiality and obsessive philosophical searching, the two characters must find a resolution to their endless and inexhaustible love affair.

In this artistic event, the audience is not merely observers but active participants, placing bids on the stage props. This auction, which ultimately puts the performance itself up for sale, invites us to ponder the true value of emotions and discover if they can truly be priced.
